PBR Process

The Red Brick Solar project, an approximately 130 MWac solar photovoltaic generating facility with associated transmission facilities, is proposed to be located in Lunenburg County, Virginia.  The project is designed to consist of approximately 324,000 solar panels that will be affixed to a single-axis tracking system, with a maximum height of 15 feet. The project is located on approximately 1,938 acres of privately-owned land in central Lunenburg County, north of Route 49, west of Route 40, and east of Route 690.  The project is sited on parcels identified as Lunenburg County Tax Map Parcel Numbers: 031-02-0-5A, 031-0A-0-31, 031-0A-0-33A, 031-0A-0-33B, 031-0A-0-33C, 031-0A-0- 33D, 032-0A-0-38, 032-0A-0-39, 032-0A-0-40, 032-0A-0-40A, 032-0A-0-40B, 043-01-0-1, 043- 01-0-2, 043-01-0-3, 043-01-0-4, 043-01-0-5, 043-01-0-6, 043-0A-0-27, 043-0A-0-28, 044-0A-0- 1, and 044-0A-0-2.

Red Brick Solar, LLC invites the public to learn more about this project by attending the public meeting or contacting our team. The purpose of the public participation is for Red Brick Solar, LLC to (i) acquaint the public with the technical aspects of the proposed project and how the standards and requirements of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Small Renewable Energy Projects (Solar) Permit by Rule (PBR) regulations will be met, (ii) identify issues of concern, (iii) facilitate communication, and (iv) establish a dialogue with persons who may be affected by the project.

A 30-day comment period, in accordance with 9VAC15-60-90 C, will be held commencing August 18, 2022, through September 17, 2022. Any interested parties may contact the applicant to ask questions or provide comments as follows

A public meeting will be held in accordance with 9VAC15-60-90 D on September 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the People’s Community Center, located at 1021 Tidewater Avenue, Victoria, VA 23974

Physical copies of the documentation to be submitted to the DEQ in support of the Permit by Rule application will be available for inspection at the Lunenburg County Administration Office, located at 11413 Courthouse Road, Lunenburg, VA 23952 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays, from August 18, 2022, through September 17, 2022. Additionally, copies will be available during regular business hours at the Victoria Town Office (1809 Main St, Victoria, VA 23974) and the Kenbridge Town Office (511 E 5th Ave #2, Kenbridge, VA 23944). 

Beginning on August 18, 2022, the full application will also be accessible to the public online at www.redbricksolar.com/pbr_application_materials. The site will also provide community members opportunities to learn more about solar energy and the Red Brick Solar project, and to ask questions about the application. Visitors will be able to submit comments and/or questions at www.redbricksolar.com/public_comment_portal.
